Four Properties of Stainless Steel 446 Fasteners
Stainless steel 446 fasteners use stainless steel as raw materials. Stainless steel 446 fasteners has four properties.
1. High temperature resistance. For high hardness, the fasteners has strong oxidation resistance. It cannot work under high temperature and cannot be interfered by high temperature. If the fasteners is passivated after being made out, the temperature resistance will be better.
2. Physical properties. Stainless steel 446 fasteners has higher specific resistance. The specific resistance of stainless steel is higher than that of carbon steel by five times. Standard parts have an expansion factor. Through experiment, if the temperature is higher, the expansion factor of stainless steel 446 fasteners will be improved definitely.
3. Stress capacity. Stainless steel 446 fasteners can endure moderate stress. Although it cannot be compared favorably with high strength bolt, the fasteners can still meet the common requirements.
4. Mechanical properties. High rust resistance and corrosion resistance have close relationship with the features of stainless steel. For standard parts developing constantly, mechanical properties of stainless steel 446 fasteners will be enhanced further.

Manufacturing Process of 446 Stainless Steel Fasteners
Machining stainless steel Fasteners grade 446 requires low speeds and constant feeds to reduce its tendency to work harden. This steel is tougher than grade 446 stainless steel Fasteners with a long stringy chip; however, using chip breakers is recommended. Welding can be performed using most of the conventional fusion and resistance methods. Oxyacetylene welding should be avoided. AWS E/ER 446 filler metal is recommended.
Conventional hot working processes can be performed. The material should be heated to 1149-1260°C (2100-2300°F); however, it should not be heated below 927°C (1700°F). To optimize corrosion resistance, a post-work annealing is recommended.
Shearing, stamping, heading and drawing are possible with grade 446 stainless steel Fasteners, and post-work annealing is recommended to eliminate internal stresses. Annealing is performed at 1010-1121°C (1850-2050°F), which should be followed by rapid cooling.
